In 2001 I began work at the Laing Art Gallery as an ‘Assistant Exhibitions Officer’, working with the Curator of Contemporary Art Sam Peace. At this time the gallery was one of the largest galleries exhibiting contemporary art in the region.  Shows I worked on included:

Beck’s Futures (February 2002) which featured work by: Shahin Afrassiabi, Fabienne Audéoud & John Russell, Simon Bill, David Burrows, Brian Griffiths, Dan Holdsworth, Gemma Iles, DJ Simpson, Tim Stoner, Clare Woods.

Tim Macmillan – Life and Death – (28 April – 24 June 2001)

Jordan Baseman – Lonesome Town – (14th Sep 2001 to 21st Oct 2001)

Life is Beautiful (2002) – Curated by associate curator Andrew Patrizio. This show featured work by Cornelia Parker, Andreas Gursky, and Felix Gonzalez-Torres. Marc Quinn, Chris Ofili, John Stezaker, Angela de la Cruz’s, Roman Opalka, LC Armstrong, Jane Prophet, Jim Lambie.
