I have some exciting news. I’m leaving the Tyneside.
In 2011 I joined the projects team at the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK). I built and curated the current version of the Pixel Palace digital arts programme from the ground up. It has been an enriching three and a bit years. During this time I was disruptive (the positive, friendly type), surprising and focused on creating opportunities where new technologies meet the arts. Hopefully I was also a lot of fun to work with. Some of my highlights have been Mariner 9, Basic.fm, three years of amazing artists in residence and commissions like Manifestation, Gesture Piece and Sound test 5.1.
Any time you set out to do something excellent you inevitably must be prepared to take some risks. If you get too comfortable then you stagnate and personal progress becomes impossible. So, I decided it is time to shake things up a bit and step out on a new adventure. I had fun at the Tyneside. I met and worked with some very intelligent and sparky people there but it feels like it’s time to move on.
